Do I have to wear a life jacket?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Required by law all River Canyon Kayaks guests must wear a life jacket. PFD's are provided with each rental.

Question 2

May I come without a reservation?

Accepted Answer

It is HIGHLY recommended that you make a reservation prior to coming to River Canyon Adventure. We tend to sell out quickly so it is best to make a reservation a head of time to ensure a boat is available.

Question 3

What should I wear for my kayak rental outing?

Accepted Answer

Wear something that’s going to dry quickly if it gets wet like a bathing suit or outdoor wear!
SUNCREEN! There is nothing worse than coming home with a red hot sunburn after a day of fun! a hat or other sun protected is encouraged.
Shoes are optional but recommended if you intended to explore the rocky shores or sandy banks of the river. Water shoes are best. 
Life Jackets will be provided for you to wear.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Mother Nature does not always cooperate with our plans for a fun day of paddling. Here at River Canyon Kayaks we take no risks with our guests. If there is rain, high water, thunder, high wind or lightening in the area we will reschedule or postpone your reservation. Your safety is our number one priority.  Please call us before your reservation if bad weather is moving into the area during your rental time.

Question 5

Are there paddling area guidelines?

YES! For your safety and enjoyment, please stay within the designated paddling area:
Upstream (left when facing the water): We recommend paddling up to Williams Island, which is approximately 3 miles upstream. It takes about 20 minutes to paddle back downstream. 
Downstream (right when facing the water): Paddling downstream past River Canyon Kayaks is not recommended, as returning upriver can be challenging and time consuming.

Question 6

Is there a minimum age requirement?

Participants must be at least 12 years old to paddle or kayak, and be accompanied by an adult. A waiver must be signed by a legal guardian in order to participate.
